Georgetown Mayor: environmental tax should be used to help clean up the city

City Mayor, Hamilton Greene, believes, that a percentage of the environmental tax ought to be allocated on a percentage basis to help the city. The Mayor was speaking during an interview with this newscast. In excess of 1 billion dollars was collected as revenue and that money is supposed to be used according to the law for the clean up of the environment. The tax is charged for the recycling of?Styrofoam? aluminium and plastic containers. ??

According to the Mayor, the Government does not seem friendly to the City Council for reasons for which he claims are unclear.

Mayor Greene also believes, that the Haag Bosh landfill site at Eccles is a disaster.

And the Georgetown Mayor and City Council will commence a 12-day clean up of the city from Monday. The exercise will see the support of a number of businesses, private citizens and the US embassy will also be on board.

City Hall is also looking at a public education programme to raise the awareness of the proper disposal of garbage.
